Arrive
Most productivity advice asks how to collect more efficiently. Leviticus interrupts with a boundary: do not harvest everything.
Read Leviticus 19:1–18. Notice how field edges belong in the same chapter as worship, justice and love of neighbour.
Reflect
The command addresses people who control land and harvest. They are not told merely to feel compassion after gathering everything into private storage. The field itself must be organised with room for others.
People in poverty and immigrants can glean. They participate in gathering food rather than being displayed as recipients of the owner’s generosity. The arrangement does not remove hardship, but it protects a measure of access and agency.
Leaving grain requires trust and restraint. The landholder accepts that maximum extraction is not the only faithful measure of success.
Modern settings differ, so we should not copy an ancient farm law mechanically. We can still ask structural questions: Are resources accessible? Do forms and rules exclude people? Does help preserve choice and dignity? Holiness reaches budgets, margins, opening hours, wages and the edges we are tempted to claim.

Pray
God of the field and the neighbour, teach us the holiness of enough. Restrain our impulse to claim every edge, and help us design access that honours immigrants and people facing poverty as full participants. Amen.

Add one unharvested section to the field. Create one practical margin this week—food, money, time, space or flexibility—that another person can access with dignity.
