Arrive

Moses tells God that the people’s burden is too heavy for him alone. God responds by appointing elders to share responsibility.

Read the passage slowly and notice Moses’ unfiltered complaint, God’s response and the purpose of the gathered elders.

Reflect

Moses reaches a limit and speaks with painful honesty. Scripture does not require leaders to disguise overload as devotion.

God does not merely tell him to try harder. The response changes the leadership structure by distributing responsibility.

Shared weight needs real authority, information and support, not helpers who receive tasks while one person keeps every decision.

Sustainable communities listen before crisis, train others and make rest possible. Asking for help can be faithful leadership.

Pause and notice

A few questions to sit with

  1. Which words reveal that Moses is beyond capacity?
  2. How does God change the structure?
  3. What responsibility and authority should be shared?

Pray

God who hears exhausted leaders, expose impossible loads and form trustworthy teams. Give us humility to ask, share and rest. Amen.

Carry it with you

Label three smaller jars with responsibilities you can delegate, then transfer one with the authority and information needed to carry it.
