Neither group realises the full significance of its actions. Jesus places extraordinary weight on ordinary responses to embodied need.
Reflect
The needs are specific: food, water, welcome, clothing, presence in illness and visitation in prison. Love enters material conditions.
Jesus identifies himself with those described as least. This gives profound dignity to people society treats as disposable and confronts indifference.
Service can still become controlling or performative. Dignified solidarity listens, protects privacy, respects choice and addresses barriers that keep producing need.
Choose proximity over abstraction. Learn from a local service or affected person before deciding what help should look like.

Christ among our neighbours, open our eyes to your presence. Make our care practical, humble and guided by the dignity and voice of those most affected. Amen.
