Arrive
Leviticus does not let Aaron simply declare himself ready. The congregation gathers, Moses follows a public process and each garment carries a purpose.
Read Leviticus 8:1–13. Notice how much preparation occurs before any priest begins ordinary service.
Reflect
Washing, clothing and anointing communicate that priestly work is received, not seized. Aaron does not invent his own authority or design a role around personal preference.
The congregation is present. Commissioning happens within the people, not behind a curtain of secrecy. Public trust needs public responsibility.
Aaron’s sons receive tunics and sashes, while Aaron carries distinctive high-priestly garments. Different tasks are visible, but every role remains service under God’s instruction.
Later biblical stories show that priestly office does not prevent serious failure. This protects us from confusing anointing with perfection. Healthy spiritual leadership requires formation, clear boundaries, shared oversight and ways for concerns to be heard safely. Honour for a role must never silence truth or shield harm.

Pray
Holy God, form leaders who receive responsibility with humility. Protect communities through clear boundaries, truthful oversight and service that never treats a sacred role as freedom from accountability. Amen.

Add one witness to the unfinished courtyard. Name one healthy safeguard—training, shared leadership, reporting, review or rest—that protects both leaders and the people they serve.
