Arrive
The people are religiously active and frustrated that God does not seem impressed. Isaiah exposes a gap between their fasting and the way power operates around them.
Reflect
God’s chosen fast loosens injustice and breaks oppressive yokes. Worship is tested by what happens to people carrying the heaviest burdens.
Sharing bread and shelter is concrete. Compassion in this chapter enters budgets, homes, workplaces and public arrangements.
The promise of light and watered gardens follows this reordering of communal life. Restoration is not private glow detached from neighbours.
A repairer asks careful questions: Who was harmed? Who decides what restoration looks like? Which structures protect dignity, and which preserve exclusion?

Pray
