Arrive
Saul approaches Damascus with documents, authority and a plan to take people prisoner. By the end of the encounter, he must be led by the hand. The road exposes the violence hidden inside his certainty.
Read Acts 9:1–19. Do not stop before Ananias enters the story, because Saul’s next steps depend on a disciple he had reason to fear.
Reflect
Jesus asks, “Why do you persecute me?” The question joins Christ with the people Saul has harmed. Conversion cannot be reduced to a private feeling between Saul and God while the suffering of the church is ignored.
Saul loses control of the journey. He cannot see, does not eat or drink and waits. This vulnerability does not erase what he has done, but it creates space where his direction can be changed.
His companions lead him into the city, and Ananias later comes despite understandable fear. Saul’s transformation is held within a community that must discern risk, obey God and witness the fruit of change over time.
Dramatic testimony can be meaningful, but it does not place anyone beyond safeguards or accountability. Trust may grow through consistent action. The faithful beginning is often smaller: stop, hear the truth, receive help and abandon the path that was causing harm.

- How does dependence challenge his control?
- Why should a dramatic conversion story still be accompanied by accountability and time?
Pray
Jesus, interrupt the paths in us that harm other people. Give us courage to hear the truth, humility to receive help and patience to live the changed direction through accountable actions. Amen.

Continue the road with a clear turn. Name one harmful pattern you need to stop and one trustworthy person who can help you practise a different direction.
